3. Disconnect wiring from the generator/alternator, ignition coil, oil pressure
switch and reversing light power junction fuse (if fitted).
4. Detach accelerator cable at connecting link and withdraw from tube
which passes thru fan housing.
5. Remove outer pulley from generator/alternator and take off fanbelt.
6. Remove fresh air hoses from fan housing and rear tray, also remove rear tray.

withdraw engine to the rear of the car till the mainshaft clears the clutch release
bearing.
14. Lower the engine slowly, ensuring that no components are damaged in doing so.
15. Withdraw engine from under the rear of car.
Installation
1. Check clutch thrust bearing for wear, and mainshaft oil seal for oil seepage. Replace
if required.
2. Lubricate starter shaft bush with lithium based grease.
3. Lubricate mainshaft tip and splines very lightly with grease.
4. Clean gearbox bellhousing area and gearbox/engine
mating surfaces thoroughly.
5. Care must be taken when when replacing the
engine to prevent damage to the gland
nut needle bearings, thrust race and mainshaft.
6 Rotate the generator/alternator pulley to facilitate
engagement of the main shaft into the clutch
plate and gland nut needle bearing (engage gear).
7. When installing the engine first line up the
bottom two (2) mounting bolts in the
gearbox bellhousing, then push engine
in till the flanges are tight against each
